About LabDB

LabDB is a lightweight database management system designed for biological research laboratories. It enables labs to catalogue and search a variety of data types, including chemical inventories, oligonucleotide collections, plasmids, staff records and worm strains. Each dataset is represented by a module that can be independently enabled or disabled based on your needs.

This modernised version introduces a refreshed user interface, secure authentication built on PHP sessions and strong password hashing, and convenient new features like CSV export and flexible search filters. The warm colour palette and clean layout aim to provide an intuitive experience while preserving the simplicity of the original system.

The application is self‑hosted and powered by PHP and MySQL, allowing individual laboratories to deploy it on their own server or intranet. If you are interested in contributing to its continued development, please contact the maintainer.
